ROLE DESCRIPTION - Rear Commodore Racing

ROLE PURPOSE To promote and arrange racing events in line with the objectives of the club, safely and legally.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. For racing events and in conjunction with the Flag Officers of the committee

a. Agree and investigate racing events that the club wishes to enter.

b. Charter yachts as required on behalf of HOEOCA and/or contact suitable owners.

c. Enter races with relevant race organisers where required, e.g., RORC, ISC.

d. Calculate cost and timelines. Use the clubs systems and software throughout to create, promote and manage all aspects of any event such that an accurate record is maintained.

e. Assemble crews and confirm skipper & mate if required, with relevant experience. Ensure skipper and mates meet charterers and club requirements.

g. If oversubscribed advise those members affected and operate a waiting list.

h. Distribute race details to all crew if required.

2. Post event, review outcome and ask crew for feedback.

3. Any task may be delegated but RCR has overall responsibility.

GENERAL - Committee members should where practical be available to attend the majority of the monthly committee meetings which are normally held 1930 on the last Tuesday of any month (except December). Or if not able to attend, ensure that an update by email is supplied prior to the meeting, stating current status of events planned. As well as being generally supportive of club events.

General IT literacy is assumed. An interest in and/or enthusiasm for sailing is an advantage.

It is expected that all committee members will become directors of HOEOCA limited which is a Company Limited by Guarantee.

SPECIFIC TO ROLE - Event and/or project management experience. Knowledge of HOEOCA and its’ members. A wide experience of race sailing an advantage
