ROLE DESCRIPTION – Committee Member Social Cruising
ROLE PURPOSE - To promote and arrange Social Cruising events in line with the objectives of the club, safely and legally.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES – In conjunction with the Flag Officers of the committee.
1. Prior to year-end, agree and investigate numbers of events, dates and planned destinations.
2. Confirm best price of charter yachts on behalf of HOEOCA and book with charter company.
3. Liaise with any planned destinations to confirm space at marinas etc.
4. Decide event costs and payment dates, produce application form, ask RC Communications to publicise event via website and newsletter.
5. Receive members applications, confirm skipper, and crew place availability.
6. With help from treasurer, track deposit and balance payments.
7. With input from Commodore and/or Vice Commodore, assemble and publish crews once balances paid, considering; safety, development aspirations, crew requests and other factors such as cabin allocation and absorbing new members.
8. Distribute rally documentation to attendees/skippers and charter company and discuss passage planning. Publish passage plans (if appropriate)
9. Post event – Report on event profit/loss and gather feedback from members attending.
GENERAL - Committee members should be available to attend the majority of the monthly committee meetings which are normally held 1930 on the last Tuesday of any month (except December) as well as being generally supportive of club events. Additionally, in turn each committee member acts as a “Meeter Greeter” at a first Tuesday social.
General IT literacy is assumed although training will be given if you are required to update the area of the website assigned to your role. An interest in and/or enthusiasm for sailing is an advantage.
It is expected that all committee members will become directors of HOEOCA limited which is a Company Limited by Guarantee.
SPECIFIC TO ROLE - Event and/or project management experience. Knowledge of HOEOCA and its’ members A wide experience of cruising sailing an advantage with understanding of navigation and passage planning.
