OVERVIEW

HOEOCA member Vic Stuthridge is running two courses through 2nd Meridian.

The course and exam is for anyone who owns a fixed or handheld marine VHF radio and anyone who wants to skipper a yacht equipped with a VHF Radio and is not in possession of a Short Range Certificate.

A radio is an important piece of safety equipment on board and it is vital to understand the correct procedures. The Short Range Certificate is the minimum qualification required by law to control the operation of VHF and VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC) equipment on any British flagged vessel voluntarily fitted with a radio either fixed or hand held.

The course will cover the basics of radio operation, frequencies, distress, emergency and medical assistance procedures, making ship to shore telephone calls, Digital Selective Calling and Global Maritime Distress Safety System.

COST

Course Fee £90 (to include the  G31 Handbook.)
