What do the courses cover?
The RYA Day Skipper and Watch Leader syllabus includes seamanship, coastal navigation and pilotage, chart work, electronic charts, position fixing, plotting a course to steer, tides, weather forecasting and meteorology and collision regulations.
The RYA Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster syllabus includes position fixing, course shaping and plotting, tidal knowledge, use of almanacs and admiralty publications, electronic position finding equipment, interpreting forecasts, understanding weather systems and weather predictions using a barometer.
