OVERVIEW

We're running a one-day RYA Diesel Engine Couse in conjunction with the Narrowboat Skills Centre (NBSC) at the Debdale Wharf Marina, Debdale, Kibworth, Leicestershire, LE8 0XA.

The course has been developed by the RYA to take the mystery out of marine diesel engines and includes

basic principals of diesel engine operation, then more depth on the
fuel system
air system
lubrication system
cooling system 
followed by troubleshooting

winterisation

With a maximum class size of 6, this provides a great way to learn. The Centre has purpose-built training aids including two fully functioning engines to allow hands on practical sessions for testing and maintenance so please wear suitable “working” clothes. At the end of the course successful students will be awarded an RYA Diesel Engine Certificate..

This is a full day session but for anyone wanting to go into more depth on other aspects of maintenance such as drive trains, stern gear, basic electrical systems etc the NBSC runs a 2-day Diesel Engine and Boat Maintenance course. See here for more details.

COST

£145 (minimum of 4). Cancellation fee £25.

This cost includes the RYA work booklet and certification, tea and coffee and a light lunch. A more comprehensive RYA Diesel Engine Maintenance book is available for £18.
