We've been a maritime nation for hundreds of years, relying on the sea for food, trade, transport and defence. Our folk songs reflect this and provide insights (not all of which are wholesome!) into the history, lives and attitudes of our forebears.
MIchael will introduce us to a new selection of this music, illustrating the background to each song. There'll be examples of shanties and of other types of sea song. Many need to be sung in company, so joining in will be strongly encouraged. He'll be loud and enjoying himself and we're encouraged to do likewise!
So come and learn something which will amaze and delight your fellow HOEOCA members, next time you're afloat!
